Monday night our members trained on the importance of Salvage during fire operations. While the act of Salvaging items from a burning structure isn’t tactically vital it is easily one of the most important acts we can do for the victims of fires. A fire is an emotionally draining experience for residents, and being proficient at salvage is a way we can reduce that stress. While homes may be lost, the ability to save and protect at least some of person’s cherished belongings may be what holds them together. Our salvage training focuses on two key areas. Removing water from the home and shielding larger items in place.
