New trustees – 2019

Congratulations to Fern Creek’s newest Trustee! Sgt Dale Shewmaker was elected to our Board of Trustees as a firefighter representative. Dale has been a member of our department for 8 years and is currently a sergeant on platoon 3.

We would also like to give a HUGE thank you to Major Todd Newman! After 20 years, Major Newman decided to step down as one of our firefighter reps on the Board of Trustees.  He has been constant voice for our firefighters and he will be missed.

Finally, we are delighted that Mayor Appointed Trustee Tracy DeLoch has agreed to stay on for another 3 year term. Tracy currently serves as of Secretary of the Board. She is a huge asset and a brings a wealth of knowledge to our Board of Trustees.

Dangers of Summer Heat

How to stay safe

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for our local area.
From 2PM Thursday, until 8PM Sunday, high temperatures and high humidity will produce heat indices ranging from 100 degrees to as high as 110 degrees.
Temperatures in this range can lead to dangerous and even deadly conditions- especially for the elderly, and for very young children.
The following information will show you the signs and symptoms to look out for to avoid these potentially deadly conditions.

Crusade 2019

Thank you for helping Fern Creek Fire Department collect over $194,000 for the 2019 Crusade for Children. Fern Creek was the over #1 fire department for crusade donations this year. Even though this was an outstanding year for us it was also bitter sweet. Captain Eric Brown is stepping aside as our Crusade chairman. With Eric leading the charge Fern Creek has collected over 1.2 million dollars in nine years. This was also Mike Schmidt’s last Crusade as Chief of the Fern Creek Fire Department. Chief has been collecting for the Crusade his entire career. We were glad to make #1 this year as an awesome way to say thank you to these two outstanding men.

Memorial Day

Crusade week 2019!

It’s thats time of year again. Time to empty your change jar and help us fill one very important bucket. Fern Creek members will be out in force all week collecting for the Crusade for Children. Look for us everyday at the road blocks. Bardstown and S. Hurstbourne in the mornings and Bardstown and Gene Synder in the evening starting at 4pm. We will begin our door to door collection Wednesday evening. If you’re afraid we’ll miss you when we’re collecting feel free to stop in and drop your donation off at the firehouse.

Crusade for children is a cause that is near and dear to every firefighter’s heart. At the end of the week it isn’t about the fire trucks or the competition. It is about the millions of dollars that we all collect together.
