In June, our new 7134 went into service as the duty crew engine.

Shortly thereafter, the old 7134 was stripped of all its tools and equipment in preparation for its trip to Wisconsin to be refurbished.

On July 16, 7134 left Station 1 for its journey to Seagrave where it will undergo some extensive overhauling.

Ready to go!

According to Chief Schmidt, the refurb will consist of a complete cab and body makeover. Repairs and work will be done to remove rust and corrosion from the body. Tool compartments will be repainted and a new LED light package will be added. The interior cab area will get new paint and a new headliner will be installed. The rear of the engine will be re-striped to match the new 7134 and this should bring the apparatus into compliance with NFPA guidelines regarding lights and striping for safety purposes. Other mechanical work, including repairs to the Snozzle, will be performed. The intent of all this months-long work is to restore this 10-year old truck to like-new status.
